The ISCCC welcomes you to its AGM on 10 November to find out about the ISCCC’s activities over the past year, and priorities for the future. ISCCC members will also elect the ISCCC committee for the coming year.
The AGM will be held on Tuesday 10 November 2020, 7.00pm at the Eastlakes Football Club, 3 Oxley Street, Griffith, ACT, 2603. The meeting will also be available via Zoom.
The ISCCC’s latest hardcopy newsletter is being delivered now to inner south households, so keep an eye out for it in your letterbox.
The newsletter provides you with an update on current activities of the ISCCC, its member groups and other inner south organisations. It also provides details of upcoming annual general meetings of the ISCCC and member groups.
The ISCCC invited all Parties and candidates standing for election in the 2020 ACT elections to respond to these ISCCC election priorities
The Inner South Canberra Community Council, member residents groups and the Fyshwick Business Association have all lodged submissions objecting to the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) lodged by the Hi-Quality Group for the proposed Integrated Resource Recovery Facility in Tennant Street, Fyshwick.

The Inner South Canberra Community Council applauds the ACT Greens for listening to community and Fyshwick business concerns about proposed waste facilities in Fyshwick, including the environmental and air quality impacts, the scale of proposals and the impact of cumulative proposals on the suburb’s evolution

The Minister for City Services, Chris Steel, advised recently that the ACT Government’s planting activities were increased significantly at short notice this year to provide stimulus to local businesses. Planting locations were linked to the availability of suitable species.
It is important that as many inner south residents as possible lodge submissions in response to the Environmental Impact Statement for the Sydney-based Hi-Quality Group’s proposed waste processing facility in Tennant Street, Fyshwick (next to Domayne and around the corner from Bunnings).
An online petition calling on the ACT Government to find alternate sites for two proposed waste processing facilities in Fyshwick has been lodged on the ACT Legislative Assembly website. Principal petitioner and President of the Fyshwick Business Association, Rob Evans, said the association supported better resource recovery, but the impact of the proposed facilities was too high a price to pay.
