The ISCCC is disappointed about the decision to move Deakin and Yarralumla from the inner city electorate of Kurrajong to the electorate of Murrumbidgee which covers Woden, Weston Creek, Molonglo Valley and part of Kambah. These new electorate boundaries will apply for the 2020 ACT election.
Submission in response to DA on proposed expansion of metal recycling facility in Fyshwick and a letter to Ministers conveying the text of a successful motion at the ISCCC’s public forum on 11 June calling for an independent inquiry into health and other impacts of the proposed waste facility in Fyshwick
On 21 June, the President of the Griffith Narrabundah Community Association, Leo Dobes, sent the attached letter to the Chief Minister to direct his attention and those of our other local MLAs to the need to improve conditions in the Manuka Precinct.
Almost 100 people attended the ISCCC’s public forum on 11 June to hear presentations and have their say on planning for areas of intense urban infill, other strategic planning issues, housing initiatives, city services issues, and proposals for Fyshwick freight and waste facilities.
Have your say on Development Application DA201935337, a proposal for new machinery to enhance a metal recycling operation in Fyshwick. A key issue is proposed open air shredding of metal. US studies indicate that each tonne of steel that is recovered in a similar process is expected to produce about 300 kg of residue, comprised of plastics, rubber, glass, foam and textiles, contaminated by oil and other fluids. In the proposed open air shredding process an appreciable amount of microscopic particles from car interiors and paint will escape into the air as dust. An inner south resident has undertaken the attached analysis of issues that may need to be addressed. Closing date for representations to DA201935337 is Friday 14 June up to midnight.

The ISCCC held a successful Politics at the Pub on 5 May at the Eastlake Football Club. 165-190 people attended.
The ISCCC’s public forum on 9 April was very successful, with about 60 participants providing their ideas, after discussion in breakout groups, about what they value about the area from Manuka to the Foreshore (loosely defined), and what opportunities and challenges they see ahead.
